Ch. 47 - OT vs NT

Our God is good.
Our God is gracious.
Our God is righteous.
Our God is merciful.

In the Old Testament of the Bible punishment for sin is a major theme.

We see the wrath of our God.

But in the New Testament of the Bible forgiveness of sin is a major theme.

We see the love of our God.

It's just interesting to see how the nature of God does not change over time, although His mind can change.

' "I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless." '
[Isaiah 13:11]

'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.'
[1 John 1:9]

I don't really think that God's nature has changed over time. I think that we can see in the OT that repentance and forgiveness of sin was the theme as well. In the NT, we also see that those that do not accept God's ultimate sacrifice will suffer his wrath. In fact, I think that in the NT we see God's wrath at its fullest in Revelation. God has made it incredibly simple for men to come to him, yet we are still so stubborn.

Anyways, that's just my thought.
